John Nagel, township manager for East Whiteland, confirmed the upcoming opening of The Parx Race and Sportsbook at Chickie’s and Pete’s restaurant. New team members will earn a $200 sign-on bonus upon completion of their first 120 days at the job. The Philadelphia-based franchise of Chickie’s and Pete’s restaurant is hosting a job fair this week at the new Malvern location in East Whiteland Township. It will also create an estimated 20 construction jobs and more than a dozen full and part-time jobs. It’s estimated that the Parx Race and Sportsbook at the Chester County Chickie’s and Pete’s will have more than $1.4 million in annual operating expenses, according to Play Pennsylvania. “All things being where they’re at at this point, they could open this facility this month, at the end of January,” Harbach said.
Then the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will hold two practice nights in January to ensure the facility is operating properly for the public. He said, “We’re going to be doing some inspections of the facility later this month.”
